Dr. Stefan Elsser

Chairman

Dr. Stefan Elsser has been Partner at BBP Elsser Ruof & Partner in Stuttgart since 2008. BBP is a professional advisory company for Private Equity and Venture Capital Investors and well-respected family offices. Before joining BBP, Dr. Elsser held various senior management and professional positions at 3i Deutschland and at Technologieholding VC GmbH, as well as at KfW, the German federal development bank.

He brings more than 20 years of experience in all aspects of corporate finance, along with a broad knowledge in portfolio monitoring – including several investments in the fields of MedTech, Lifescience and Nanotechnology.

Dr. Elsser studied economics at the Karl Eberhard University in Tübingen, Germany, and at the University of Oregon in Eugene. In 1993 he received his doctoral degree with honours from the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart.

Dr. Simon Nebel

Vice Chairman

Simon Nebel is Managing Partner of Aravis and has its own consultancy company Viopas Venture Consulting. He has participated in investing, managing and divesting in a number of life science companies of Aravis portfolio. Simon has been board member or observer in thirteen companies and is currently a board member of SynAffix (NL), MarinoMed (AT), Bird Rock Bio (La Jolla/USA)).

Before joining Aravis, Simon was a group strategist at UBS (London, Basel and Zurich), where he coordinated and worked on business planning and modelling. This included developing a Biotechnology Venture Capital business proposal for UBS Capital.

Simon holds a PhD in Biophysics from the Biocentre of the University of Basel (1996) and an MBA with distinction from the London Business School (2001).

Dr. Bernd Hartmann

Board Member

Dr. Hartmann began his professional career in the management of the Berlin branch of Allianz. Thereafter, he continued at Roskos & Meier OHG and is general partner. He is responsible for public relations, company and private pension schemes as well as liability insurances.

Dr. Hartmann provides specific expertise in the fields of regenerative energy, in particular photovoltaics. Dr. Hartmann is engaged in social activities such as the Kinderhilfsfond der Allianz and the Kulturstiftung Allianz.
